Not professional advice

Honest Picture presents publicly available research, government data, and peer-reviewed studies to help people understand their lives in honest context. It is not medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice, and it is not a diagnostic tool. The assessment and every page are for general educational and informational purposes only.

If you are struggling

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, or thoughts of harming yourself, please contact a qualified professional or a crisis service right away. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7. Outside the U.S., please search for your local crisis line or emergency number. This website cannot and does not provide crisis support.

About the data

We cite real sources and aim for accuracy, but:

  • Figures are often rounded and approximate, and are presented to show the shape of a distribution, not to measure your individual life precisely.
  • Most population data is strongest for the United States and other high-income countries, and may not represent your situation.
  • Research evolves, and findings can be mixed or contested; where that is the case, we try to say so.
  • Statistics describe groups, not individuals. Being "typical" or "atypical" on any measure says nothing about your worth or your future.

The assessment

The Context Assessment does not score, grade, or evaluate you. It places your answers next to population data and research. Its output is context, not a verdict, a diagnosis, or a recommendation. Decisions about your money, health, work, or relationships should be made with appropriate professional guidance, not on the basis of this tool.

No outcomes are promised

We make no claim that using this site will improve your life, change your circumstances, or produce any particular result. Seeing your situation clearly is valuable, but it is not a treatment and not a guarantee.
