The principle
Honest Picture is built so that the most sensitive thing you do here — answering honest questions about your life — happens entirely on your own device. We designed it this way on purpose. A site about seeing your life clearly should not quietly harvest it.
Your assessment answers
- Your answers are processed only in your browser to generate your context picture.
- They are not stored on our servers, in a database, or in your browser’s local storage.
- They are not transmitted to us or to any third party.
- They are not linked to your identity, because we never ask for it.
- When you close or refresh the page, your answers are gone.
What we do collect
Like most websites, we may collect limited, standard technical information to keep the site working and understand aggregate usage:
- Basic analytics. If analytics are enabled, we use them to understand aggregate, anonymised traffic — which pages are read, roughly how many people visit. This never includes your assessment answers. See how we use data for specifics.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider may keep standard logs (e.g. IP address, browser type) for security and reliability, as is normal for any website.
Cookies and advertising
The site currently runs without advertising. If we introduce advertising through Google AdSense in the future, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits, in line with Google’s policies. At that point this section will be updated to describe those cookies and how to opt out, and where required we will request consent before non-essential cookies are set. You will always be able to manage ad personalisation through Google’s Ads Settings.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Because we do not build profiles or store your answers, there is generally no personal dataset about you for us to export or delete. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence removed, contact us and we will handle it. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; we aim to honour those rights.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
